So nice to meet you

Melissa Pfannenstiel is a nationally published photographer who captures the most joyful times in life: from the newest days of your baby after birth to your toddler taking their first steps, through to their childhood years. Newborns and babies are her specialties. {She LOVES babies}.

Melissa has a fresh, natural style and creative perspective. Her use of color is rich and classic, and her black and white images have dimension and depth. Melissa captures delicate portraits of your newborn baby or child with incredible clarity. She began photography from a career standpoint in 2002 as a product photographer. Captures in Time Photography came to fruition in 2007.

After several years of on-location work, her custom boutique studio became a cornerstone on historic Main Street in Blue Springs in early 2011. It is the longest-running local studio specializing in newborn photography in the eastern Kansas City area.

The studio lighting methods Melissa uses are sophisticated and come with over ten years of portrait photography experience in the Kansas City area. Recently complimented by a commercial photographer and creative director from New York who brought his newborn to the studio, he said, "You really UNDERSTAND the use of light, shadow and lighting ratios."

New mothers deserve to be captured in the best light with their new bundle of joy and Melissa knows how to make your beauty shine through in parent portraits, even when you are a bit tired as a new mom.

Melissa's studio is custom and upscale, with a wide variety of backdrop and prop options that you just can't get when a photographer comes to your home. Melissa encourages parents to select their favorite backdrops and builds upon those selections to create a set that is cohesive in color and texture.

In addition to being a Kansas City newborn photographer, Melissa provides maternity, baby child, and family photography. Studio and on-location sessions are also available for the Kansas City metro area, as well as the Lees Summit, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Greenwood, Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood, Lenexa, North Kansas City and Liberty areas.
