Welcome to the blog

Monthly Archives: September 2012

I love the look that a mother has on her face when she hold her new baby.   They may be tired and a little weary but they are over the top in love with that little one and it comes through to the camera.  So if you are considering stepping out of your newborn session and not being in the images, please think it over and just slap on a good concealer and do it.

Another baby boy in the studio! This momma had a vision.  She had the hat specially made and coordinated sock monkey to match.  I get a TON of parents who met at K-State. 🙂  The studio is about 20-25 minutes from JOCO, it’s a short little trip.  We had many laughs during this session.  Session are about your child and can feature things that mean something to you. When a mom has an idea and am more than willing to listen and incorporate it into my shooting style.

Talk about a baby boom!  I have had my busiest months of newborns during my five years in business in August and September.   A little but about my newborn sessions.  Every session features a short series with mom, dad and baby to feature all of that new love. I encourage parents to be in images with their baby, it is not mandatory, however. I try to make these very timeless and classic, because often those are hanging on your walls the longest.  All of your images will be shown in your gallery in both color and black and white.

I believe there is so much more to newborn photography than getting the baby to sleep, lying them on a pretty blanket on a beanbag and posing them.  There is nothing wrong with that style, but that is just a small part of my newborn sessions.  I love the use of color and textures, as well as vintage props, always keeping your baby as the main focus of my photography

One of the favorite shots my clients rave about are my wide-eyed, close shots of babies. I love to get sleeping shots of baby, but think that the eyes are truly the windows to the soul and it is important to have lovely open eyed shots.

I have over 30 backdrops I stock in the studio to use with our wide selection of vintage props, baskets and blankets that I use to make little “baby rooms”.   All you need to bring is yourself and baby.

This little man was passed the typical two week newborn window, but that doesn’t matter.  It really is never to late for newborn portraits. He had this little “cherub” face and big, blue eyes.  I think I did squish his cheeks a few times, how could you not?

I LOVE these little lace rompers and am stocking a few in the studio for my  Toes Baby plan girls.  Sometimes, a girl just doesn’t feel in the mood for pink.  🙂

The third child in this family I have photographed since they were itty bitty.  I can’t believe she is a year old already.  So great to see you H-!
