It was such a pleasure to photography this gorgeous couple. Pregnancy is truly a beautiful thing and mom was just glowing! I did not retouch a single thing on this gorgeous mama! I am very much looking forward to meeting baby. This highly anticipated baby has some delightful parents.

I love stepping out of the studio to get some outdoor images. Downtown Blue Springs is a hidden treasure of Kansas City.

This was such a wonderful and special session. Mom had a real vision for the feel of the images. She wanted a set with a military theme and then a softer set featuring mom with baby.  I did my best to fulfill that while staying within my own style newborn photography.  The flag really added so much to these newborn portraits. It is just so symbolic, I have never added it to a session before.  This little guy really  was such an alert baby and wanted to make sure he didn’t miss any of the action.  We did get sleeping shots as well, but these are a few of my personal favorites.  I have enjoyed offering Kansas City military newborn photography for the past six years.  These sessions are always near and dear to my heart.  I have had quite a few families come from Leavenworth, KS to the studio for their baby’s sessions.

I truly  commend our military and the sacrifices each of their families makes for all of us, it is an honor to have these families in the studio.  Even before I was interested in photography, it always took my breath away to see someone in uniform holding a little tiny baby.  Those little guys have no idea, what a big, big job their parents have just all of us to have opportunities and freedom.  This little guy will definitely be watched over.

So, this Kansas City family photographer is very behind on blogging. This has been such a busy year, please forgive me!  I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with so many wonderful families and the new studio has just been so incredible. It is nice to get outside when we are having this amazing weather to shoot, though!  This summer has felt like early springtime to me, it is such a nice change of pace for our area.

I  have photographed half of this family before many times, every since little Ethan was a teeny, tiny newborn.  He was part of the Captures in Time “Tiny Toes” plan, which offers four sessions in the baby’s first year, including the newborn session. These sessions can be combined with our outdoor options around the studio, so you can have a nice mix of studio and outdoor images if you wish to.

When Amelia’s brother planned a trip from overseas, Amelia immediately planned a Kansas City family photography session and we put it on the books.  We shot this session in downtown Lee’s Summit, which offers lots of color and textures.  I always love shooting there and the endless variety of options that the area offers.  I loved how their main color in clothing choices was blue, but everyone didn’t match each other exactly.   I think that is always the best way to go with a large, extended family session. These kids just had so much personality and were so sweet to work with. We had lots of fun and there were lots of laughs.  We ended the session seeing the Train Depot in Downtown Lees Summit, which little Ethan absolutely could not wait for!  I’m not saying you should bribe kids with a little something at the end, but it does help!

I remember when their oldest daughter Kennedy was a baby.  We had her shoot in my basement studio in my house.  I am so excited for this couple to have another baby.  They make the most beautiful children!

Including siblings in a maternity shoot is a great idea. It’s great to captures their excitement about the new baby!
