Studio 1133 is my 1000 square foot commercial baby studio, located in the historic area of Blue Springs. It is not a home studio. Conveniently located just a few minutes from I-70, it is just a 30-minute drive from almost anywhere in the Kansas City Metro area. Nestled in the Heritage Building on Main Street, the studio has been customized to give you and your child a relaxed and luxurious experience during your maternity, newborn, baby, child, family, senior or headshot portrait photography session.
Here, you see the studio set up for client consultations. It has a nice clean and simplistic feel, similar to my style of shooting. The studio has two rooms for various sets and the space necessary to be able to use very long lenses, which is essential when using backdrops for that lovely "blurry look" behind the subject.
The studio has a private room, which can be used for nursing and dressing as well as a fridge stocked with drinks. Clients are welcome to bring snacks. I find that the more laid-back and comfortable the session, the better the images will be!
The storage and prop room in the back section of the studio is stocked to the brim with over 50 backdrops, baskets, vintage props, blankets, hats and tiny headbands for baby girls! When shooting, I bring out the studio lighting and backdrops and your custom portrait experience begins.
Everything you see on my website is a studio prop, not something a client brought with them to avoid confusion.
I take care to sanitize all props and wash everything that touches babies and children in gentle, hypo-allergenic detergent between sessions. I disinfect from the table tops to the door knobs. I take the health and safety of my clients very seriously.
I am up to date on my vaccines, including the
In order for babies to be content, the studio needs to be a certain temperature. I monitor the temperature throughout the session. This is a nice perk of the studio that can be difficult at a home session depending on your home.
I primarily use a strobe professional studio lighting system in the studio with various modifiers depending on the size and placement of the client/clients. It is completely safe for the eyes of little ones. My light stands are heavy duty to make them "topple free."
Downtown Blue Springs is a hidden treasure in Kansas City. We have undergone quite a revitalization! There are a couple of wonderful restaurants on Main Street. You are welcome to order take out during your newborn session (you deserve it). I will set up a table and you can have a nice lunch while your newborn is still in view.
My clients love my space as much as I do!
