Common questions

The FAQ

How long have you been in business?

Captures in Time Photography has been a cornerstone in Kansas City baby photography, family photography, and wedding photography since 2007.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Our Kansas City baby photography studio is an environment that allows me to give each client my full attention. If you wish to speak with me about products and services, please make an appointment. Sessions are by appointment only and take place in the studio located in the historic area of Blue Springs, about 20 minutes east of Kansas City.

Will my images be edited?

I retouch and artistically hand edit each image individually, including mild cases of baby acne and skin peeling. If there is a severe skin issue, please send a picture over before you session to see if this is something that will look unnatural when retouched. I would rather push back a session a few days in cases of widespread skin issues.

How long does it take to get my images back?

After your session date, the process for your custom portrait session with Captures in Time Photography takes about a week to two weeks.

Can I share my images on Facebook?

Yes! All of our packages are all-inclusive, so you are given a print and web release for personal use.  This means you can share them and print them. Please give credit to Captures in Time Photography under any images posted to social networking sites. I also post a favorite or two from your session on my Facebook business page, which you can share before you receive your download links.

How do I schedule my newborn photo session when I don’t know when he or she will be born?

My booking calendar is on the right-hand side of the site. Select a date 9-14 days after your due date. If baby arrives a bit early or late, we can move that date forward or back. In my experience, it is best that the newborn sessions are held within 9-14 days after their birth so that we can get the most cooperation for all of the cute newborn poses. Babies have the hang of eating down by this time and can stay full and happy. Please book your session while you are still pregnant, as my schedule fills up quickly and the only way to guarantee a slot is to pre-book.

What kind of equipment do you use?

I own a Canon 5D Mark III as my main camera and as a backup. My favorite lenses are the Canon 70-200m f/2.8L IS II, the Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, the Canon 50mm 1.2/L and the Canon 100mm f2.8/L.

What if our outdoor session is rained out?

We will reschedule your session as soon as the schedule and the weather will allow us.

What if one of us is sick?

We appreciate it if you reschedule. Sick kiddos do not photograph well.  It is no problem to reschedule.
