Newborn Golf Themed Photo Session
Dad kind of likes golf. Just a little bit. This was mom and dad’s vision and I was up for the challenge. It gives me a chance to think outside the box. She sent me an image of a baby in a wire basket surrounded by golf balls from Pinterest. I wanted to do something with baby looking a little cozier. This was the first time I had done any golf newborn photography in my nine years as a photographer in Kansas City. I’ve had firefighters in the studio with their babies, basketball coaches and military dads. I have golfed before. One time. There was a lot of walking and waiting. Anyway, I had to think through the logistics of surrounding baby in something cold and hard to the touch. The studio was pretty darned warm for this one to keep all of the balls slightly warm. Baby didn’t seem to mind them one bit!
Dad brought in a putting green circle (I think this what you call it), a club and a whole lot of golf balls. I thought that the little brown cap would look so cute in this shot. We worked hard turning golf balls so that the logo would show on them as much as possible!
Backdrops and Colors
We used a light blue damask backdrop that is popular with our boy moms and some light beige wool in my circular twig basket from Hobby Lobby. Mom loved our green vintage scale, so I was sure to work this into their golf session. It has been requested quite a bit. I love it when mom and dad both have ideas!
