Newborn Photo Shoot – Baby Ryan Highlights
Booking on the Fly
Ryan’s mom contacted me the week of his birth looking for a photographer for her new guy’s newborn photo shoot in Kansas City. I was delighted that she choose my studio. As newborns are always coming early or late, my appointments are fluid. Please DO contact me even if you don’t see a date open to see to see we can work you in the schedule. I only take three per week in pre-booking, and if that week has babies who are overdue, I will have slots open up. I do my best to get clients in who didn’t pre-book, but when I have more than three babies arriving in the same week, I will block the schedule so I don’t over-extend myself.
The Nursery
Mom sent me some images of his adorable nursery, with its rustic elements. He has little fox details all over it, so cute. If I had time, I would have ordered a little Fox from Etsy. Aren’t they adorable? The thing about plushes is that most are too big to include in portraits, so Etsy is a great place to look for handmade, more delicate items that you’re not going to put in the crib with the baby, but on a shelf. They look so sweet when baby cuddles them for portraits.

The Backdrops & Baby
For the parent series, mom and dad chose black. You just can’t go wrong with black. In fact, I used to shoot the parent series only on black for many years.
Mom chose a darker backdrop for baby only with color tones similar to the wallpaper in his room. I love the gray mohair hat that he has on in the second image. It has such great texture. The hat in the third image is “Ellie the Elfkin” hat by a friend of mine who makes adorable baby things.
Jaime also wanted a lighter and airier look, so she picked the blue old-world style backdrop that has a muslin look. I paired that drop with a blue wooden box that I had found at the Brass Armadillo.
All of the blankets shown are my creations except for the gray!
Ryan was just a bundle of cuteness. He’s a natural blonde, just like mama! He slept like an angel. Those cute little squishy cheeks!
Thank you for choosing the studio, Jaime! Expecting? See our investment and booking page to check our schedule!
