Gosh, I am behind on blogging. Happy summer, everyone! I have lots of shoots to share, but with working full-time, social media for my business and blogging have taken the back burner. I am currently booking for fall and it looks like dates will book up rather quickly, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. I have gotten lots of inquiries for these outdoor one year shoots lately, so thought I would cover the basics. Read on for pictures from my outdoor one year old shoot

Where do they take place?
The Smash and Splash outdoor one year shoots need to take place on the client’s property. #1, this is because they are messy. #2, we need some boiling water to add with water from the hose for the splash bath, so it’s not so shocking to their system.

But my yard isn’t pretty
It just doesn’t matter, I can blur the background in the camera and it’s really just a bunch of colors if you have strong feelings about your yard not making rank. If grandma had a fantastic yard, let’s use hers!

What do you bring?
I can bring this cream vintage hi-chair and either my claw-foot bathtub or this metal wash basin. Understated and classic. Baby-focused and not prop focused.

What time do you shoot?
About an hour and 15 minutes before sunset is when we begin for golden hour light.

Don’t babies get crabby at that time?
I haven’t had that experience at all. These outdoor Smash and Splash sessions are all fun stuff for them.

So, meet Max. Love that name, I have a Max, too. I was so excited to hear from Max’s mom. I did his sister’s newborn session years ago and also their family session. This little guy had so much personality and was all smiles. He really dug into his cake it was just everywhere. Max’s mom is a nutritionist and he has had all kinds of textures of foods, which really helps them to enjoy the cake smash, rather than have that “what the heck is this?” kind of look on their faces.

They had just gotten back from the beach and he was all about the water, so we knew he would really enjoy the bath part of his “smash and splash” outdoor one year shoot. We just did a simple milk bath for him. He loved every second of it!
