Rekindled Wedding at Little Sisters of the Poor – Kansas City MO

I was thrilled when Susan asked me to photograph this wedding! It has been a long time coming, many years apart. I wish that I was better with words,  but people don’t read my blog for my commentary, just my pretty pictures.  I’ll give it a shot, though.

Their story spans over a decade (which is a long time to people in their 30’s).  They dated when Susan was in college (and was also my very patient lab partner in Chem 101).  Talk about a tough class, she made it more enjoyable and soon we were hang out buddies. I was the third wheel with her and Steve, but he was always nice about it. Life happened and they went their separate ways, married other people, had children. They divorced and years later found their way back to each other.

Some fifteen years later, they stood on the altar of the tiny and charming chapel of Little Sisters of the Poor.  I don’t think I have ever seen two people smile so much during a ceremony.  Susan was a stunning bride. Love wins. I am just beyond happy for them. They are two peas in a pod. Deeply religious, witty, intelligent and kind human beings. I am thrilled that they found each other again.

This relationship is one that overcame adversity and time, and on November 20, 2010,  love was victorious.  Friends and family rejoiced with laughter and tears.  On a sunny day in Kansas City, Susan and Steven officially started their life together.   Susan got her cheesecake and her husband.  Lots of wine flowed at the beautiful Raphael Hotel.
