The last time I photographed this family, it was at their gorgeous family ranch in Johnson County. Sprawling acres or gorgeous land. There we gorgeous barn and rolling hills. You could not have asked for a more perfect setting. This time, we had some gorgeous scenery, but we didn’t have golf carts! I believe this is the 5th time I have photographed this gorgeous family. I have been taking their pictures since the kids were newborns, which is so hard to believe! This time, mom wanted to have the photography sessions at Powell Gardens Botanical Garden.  It really is a beautiful setting for family portraits. There is a bridge, benches, stone walls and a big, red barn. I am really a sucker for a barn to have in the background of some images.

I have been to Powell Gardens and taken pictures of my own kiddos there. I have shot a wedding there, but this was my first time doing a full family session for a client at this location. It’s always fun to mix things up and go somewhere new! The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and everything was green as can be! Powell Garden’s is great for family photography, it didn’t disappoint! We couldn’t have ask for more perfect weather!

The weather was overcast and I love that when shooting. It’s like a giant softbox in the sky. So many people think that you want a bright, sunny day for photography and that just is NOT the case at all. I can make a lot of lighting situations work, but timing really is everything and we set out on this early morning when the sun would be lower in the sky. The kiddos were all smiles and super easy to work with.
