Burr Oaks Park Family Photography

Burr Oaks is one of my favorite places for family photography. All photographers have locations that are their favorites. I discovered my favorite locations many years ago. Burr Oaks is a favorite of mine, not just because it is close to my studio and we have spent many hours their just hanging out as a family, but because it is beautiful at many different times of the year.

There are wildflowers in fields in the spring and summer. Heck, let’s be honest….they might be weeds. There are paths, so kiddos don’t need to get IN them. They stand in front, to the side, etc. In the fall, the grasses turn a pretty wheat color and I just love that. In the spring, everything is green and lush. There are a couple of bridges and a bird lookout (aka posing wall) that I love. Of course, in the fall, there is plenty of oranges and there is a tree that turns red by my favorite path.

Aside from the visuals, I like that coming to this conservation area is a family outing. The kids have a blast and get some fresh air and exercise, which I think most of us need more of. Lots of laughs and memories, those are so important for children to make with their parents.

I have been photographing this family for about four years now and the girls have gotten so big!  My husband bought a car from Ryan last year, it’s a Prius and he is obsessed with his little gas camel. If you are in the market for a car, be sure to visit Matt Ford.
