Kansas City Maternity Photography Waiting Patiently

When I spoke with this soon-to-be-mother on the phone, I knew that we would get along amazingly and couldn’t wait to meet her.  She is just bubbly, has a fabulous sense of style and is sweet as can be.  I was thrilled with her clothing choices and think we would make perfect shopping pals!

Not every expecting mother wishes to have her maternity portraits taken, but there are lots of reasons you should!

1.  Someday you will wish you had them.  I speak to so many women who wish they had professional maternity pictures of themselves.  When I was pregnant with our first child, I had a maternity session and have a gorgeous album of images.  Fast forward two years later to my pregnancy with Max.  I had severe polyhydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid) and looked like I was pregnant with twins.  I also had an almost-two-year-old at home and was exhausted.  I know plenty of talented maternity photographers but could never bring myself to schedule an appointment for whatever reason.  Now, I can sit down with Nick and the amazing book when he was in my tummy and with Max, I am pulling out the monthly belly shots against the living room wall or a quick shot here and there in my studio with my timer.

2.  A good photographer can make you look AMAZING, even if you don’t feel amazing.  It’s all about lighting, what you wear and how the photographer poses you.

3. It’s a great bonding experience with dad and siblings.

4.  Do it for your baby, so that they will be able to look back at those images and be able to visualize how much you loved them, even before they were here.
