Sweet Newborn Baby Girl | Mission Hills
Those lips and the button nose. Absolute perfection. She had lots of hair and delicate, tiny features I was excited that she fit into my teeny new basket, it is reserved for those under 7 lbs, which are few and far between lately. We’ve had a lot of bigger babies in the studio lately. She slept for her posed images and was awake for a wide-eyed series as well. Her nursery was decorated in elephants, so mom brought her elephant in for her room. I love the different patterns on that guy. Mom also brought in a blanket that a family member had made for their new little one. Such a fun session!
The Backdrops & Props
Mom and dad were in black and gray, so we paired them with a black backdrop. I loved the texture in dad’s sweater. Sweaters give parent images a cozy feel, especially for those winter babies. A lot of times moms want a blouse or top that is looser and flowing, mixing textures with mom and dad works well. It is a warm 80 degrees in the studio, but the parent series only takes about 30 minutes max, so clients will change right after so they are comfortable for the rest of the session. We want everyone to be as comfortable as possible.
I used my cream flokita rug with this baby and the cream damask backdrop from Lemon Drops. This sweet little pink mohair hat fit her just perfect. I have a variety of newborn sized hats as every baby has a different sized head. Newborn boys are generally always larger, so I make sure to stock lots of options.
