Sweet Newborn With Big Brother
A sweet newborn with big brother. Look at the big, brown eyes on this older brother. He was so proud of his new little buddy. I am always happy to have siblings in the studio with a family’s new addition. I think it is a great bonding experience and I take the time to make the sibling feel extra special. When baby is close to their sibling, I always have mom or dad nearby, just to make sure there are no sudden movements with brother or sister. Personally, I prefer shirts off for toddler boys who are 3 or younger. It just makes for such a sweet and organic looking image. And, less for mom to worry about coordinating and bringing with her to the studio.
Are you worried that a toddler will not be able to sit through a 2-3 hour newborn session? Don’t be, their part is short and sweet. When we are finished with the both the family and sibling series, dad just takes the sibling/siblings home and we finish the session with mom at the studio. This gives us an environment that is quiet (minus) the sound machine and mom some quiet time as well. Just bring two cars, easy peasy! Sometimes Grandma comes along and mom and dad go to a nice lunch with themselves and a soundly sleeping baby.
The Backdrops
Mom wanted some open-eyed shots of the baby (always my favorite). After he was all swaddled and snug as a bug in a rug we woke him up. It’s such a shame to wake a baby that is sleeping, but it was worth it. This little guy just made eye contact like nobody’s business! He had the darkest, prettiest eyes. For backdrops, mom wanted to use lots of dark blues, so my blue flokita and blue quilt squares backdrop from Lemon Drops were perfect options.
