A multi-faceted and fun-loving Kansas City newborn photographer with more than a decade of experience. Melissa Pfannenstiel (FAN-IN-STEEL) began as a Kansas City newborn, baby & family photographer in 2007. Nationally published, she captures the most joyful times in life with heirloom portraiture: from the early days to senior year and beyond. Newborns are among her favorite things, but she truly adores the variety of the craft. Melissa enjoys creating art with images for all age groups with a fresh, natural style, and creative perspective. If you love simplicity and elegance, you will love her style. Her use of color is rich, and her black and white images have dimension and depth. By the same token, Melissa captures delicate images of your newborn or child with incredible clarity and sharpness. Melissa's loft boutique studio is on historic Main Street in Blue Springs (aka the Mayberry of Jackson County). The studio location became a cornerstone for portrait photography in early 2011. It is one of the longest-standing portrait studios in the eastern Kansas City area.
Known for her extreme patience with infants and quirky, happy personality, Melissa makes your experience feel like more of a play-date than a daunting task on the checklist.
As a photographer, Melissa's newborn posing style is "baby-led" and is pediatrician approved. She believes that newborns should be fully respected and works to always recognize their cues. Fully-trained in posing safety, she lets babies guide themselves into more natural poses that are most comfortable to them. The peacefulness resonates in her images.
When you book a newborn or child session at the studio, you will receive a questionnaire so we can get a sense of your style, likes, and dislikes. From there, we style your session while asking for your input. You will know what to expect when you arrive for your session. Melissa guides you through planning every step of the way for your shoot. Clients LOVE our newborn and baby 8-page styling guide, included with your appointment.
