Captures in Time Photography has been a cornerstone in Kansas City baby photography and family photography since 2007.
I do! I have a gorgeous, 1000 square foot commercial studio space in downtown Historic Blue Springs.
We do not. Our Kansas City photography studio is an environment that allows me to give each client my full attention. If you wish to speak with me about products or services, please make an appointment. Sessions are by appointment only and take place in the studio located in the historic area of Blue Springs, about 20 minutes east of Kansas City.
I do offer in-home newborn sessions that have a lifestyle feel. I bring only one prop for a few prop shots. Please see both lifestyle and studio portfolios for newborns to see the difference.
Yes! The studio is stocked to the brim with high quality, handmade wraps, bonnets, and headbands. However, I very careful not to create cluttered images or to make props the focus. Most anything props you see on my website came from my studio. You are welcome to special request any items, providing baby will fit! Please feel free to bring small heirlooms to incorporate in sessions. I encourage clients to talk with me before bringing their own props otherwise.
Yes! You are given a print and web release for personal use for portrait images. This means you can share them and print them. Please give credit to Captures in Time Photography under any images posted to social networking sites. Headshots and branding sessions have a more extensive license. Editing and using filters on images from any of our sessions are not allowed.
In my experience, it is ideal that the newborn sessions are held within 7-10 days after their birth so that we can get the most cooperation for all of the cute newborn poses. This is not as important in lifestyle photography sessions that we shoot at your home. Select a date 5-10 days after your due date, prepay your retainer online and you are "soft booked". This means your baby will have priority in my schedule and you are guaranteed a slot. Dates are easily moved as I build dates into the schedule for early and late babies just in case. If you are just now looking and your baby is three weeks old, I have a special "older newborn" session for you!
Sometimes! It depends on the schedule, take a look at our schedule online or feel free to contact me to see if we have availability.
Yes! They are welcome to be in a short series with baby. However, for siblings under 3 years old, a parent must be within arms reach of the older sibling within all times. Toddlers have a lot to adjust to during this time and asking them to lie or sit next to baby can be too much. Please take their temperament into consideration. I do not spend more than 20 minutes with sibling images as newborns on their own are time-consuming and we want a full gallery of the baby. I do encourage that you bring two cars so the toddler is not bored in the studio for 2 hours after their part is finished. Or, dad can leave for lunch/shopping/park with the toddler and come back when baby only shots are completed.
We will reschedule your session as soon as the schedule and the weather will allow us. For groups of 6 or less, we can often move to the studio if you prefer.
I firmly believe images are not made by gear. That being said, I own the sharpest lenses I can find. I own a Canon 5D Mark III as my main camera and as a backup. My favorite lenses are the Canon 70-200m f/2.8L IS II, the Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, the Canon 50mm 1.2/L and the Canon 100mm f2.8/L.
