After yesterday, it officially feels like summer in KC.  Luckily, with outdoor sessions, the best light is early morning and late afternoon, so it’s a bit cooler.  🙂  Now is the time for that two-year-old who doesn’t want to sit for portraits because I can follow them around and really get lots of personality in their images.

But what to dress them in?  I know I always have a difficult time finding things to dress my boys in for outdoor portraits that feel “special enough”.  (We just have closets full of funky t-shirts and shorts, see above).  Sometimes you want a little variety in clothing choices for portraits.  One of my favorite stores Olive Juice, currently has an up to 60% off sale going on.  They have really simple and classic clothing choices.

Then, there is Etsy (*oh, my heart*).  If only I could sew….I am kidding myself, even if I could, I don’t have the patience to make such beautiful little things.  Seller Dilly Bop Designs has these really cute lounge sets for boys.  I can see a little boy waddling across a field in these, cool & funky prints!

Pampered Princess makes these adorable little knot dresses with seven designer fabrics (I think I see some Amy Butler in there).

I still love these Bella Bow ties for boys.  I had to get some for the studio.  I can’t wait to see how they look with a short-sleeved button up, tee and jean shorts.  She also has the sweetest little hats with flowers and bands for baby girls.  Banner Boutique also has some pretty hair bands for girls.

Let’s talk tutus!  Love them when they are really full and you just pair them with a onesie and you’re set.  I love Hannah’s tutus.  Look how cute with bloomers and a hat!

For 1st Birthday smash cake images, I really like just a simple diaper cover.  I have these on hand in several sizes.  This is how it works.  I bring the backdrop paper to protect the carpet, we sit your little one in the middle with a tiny cake or cupcake that you provide and they go to town.  I snap a series of 10-15 images at the end of their 1 year sitting.  They get to practice getting into that cake for their birthday and you get to enjoy watching.  Then, they take a dunk in the tub (or we just do the entire thing outdoors).  It’s a ton of fun!

Back to proofing and ordering!   I wish all of my clients a wonderful summer and I hope to capture some of it for you!
